"The making of a great compilation tape, like breaking up, is hard to do and takes ages longer than it might seem. You gotta kick off with a killer, to grab attention. Then you got to take it up a notch, but you don't wanna blow your wad, so then you got to cool it off a notch... Now, the making of a good compilation tape is a very subtle art. Many do's and don'ts. First of all you're using someone else's poetry to express how you feel. This is a delicate thing. There are a lot of rules." -High Fidelity

1. Your mix must have a title.

2. You can literally put any music you want on the mix. I realize that we all probably have somewhat similar music tastes. It warmed my heart to discover that Wilco was the band that was featured the most number of times in last year's contest. But the last thing we want is fifteen mixes of the same stuff. So show us how far reaching your music knowledge goes. Tell us something we don't know but don't let what we don't know suck.

3. Upload your mix to the DropBox provided at the bottom of this website. I will receive notification that your file has been uploaded. When I get everyone's mixes, I will send out an e-mail that will link you to the shared file.

4. Go to http://www.sendspace.com/ and download all the music, free of cost!

5. E-mail me (audreycwen@gmail.com) your playlist with the title and tracks. Include any special meaning behind the music.

6. Upload your mix by January 20th,2009. If I don't receive your music by this time, I will probably exclude you from receiving music. I'm not trying to be mean, but people by nature are lazy and the only way to get things done is to make firm deadlines, we all know that.

7. Listen. Enjoy, hate, scoff, run up a tree...then let the comments on the blog begin.

8. Last year's mud slinging was more vicious and therefore more hilarious than I expected. Except of course when it was directed at me. Then it just sucked and I hated you all.

9. No freeloading! I have the power to exclude you from having access to the shared file.
